Women have played a great part in Islamic society, always; in preaching Islam, in its battles with infidels, in rearing children and in preserving the ahadith of the Prophet (S.A.W.). In fact, the first person to lend support to the Prophet (S.A.W.) when he got a revelation and a command to propagate Islam was (Sayyidah) Khadijah (R.A.). In the Uhud, women nursed the wounded and (Sayyidah) Fatimah (R.A.) cared for her father as she had done as a child when Abu Jahl and other infidels had thrown intestines of a camel on him in the Ka 'bah. The ahadith are well preserved and (Sayyidah) Ayshah (R.A.) had a great hand in doing that. There have been women whose achievements are great (see our publication: Achievement of Muslim Women).
Nasa'i has collected ahadith on the subject of social living of women and the Prophet's (S.A.W.) advice to them and to men on kind treatment and mutual living and their responsibilities.
Nasa'i has collected four hundred and three ahadith and author in this book which he called Ishrat-un-Nisa.
We take pleasure in presenting it to our readers.
