The articles and essays in this collection, written over the last ten years, have been divided into seven sections : (i) Observations: (ii) Legal Framework; (iii) Socio-economic Perspectives; (iv) Crimes Against Women (v) The Role of Media (vi) Commemorative Anniversaries (vii) Poems: the Other Half.
Most of the articles are discussions on various aspects of human behaviour under a given set of circumstances, interpretations of equality, and socio-religious and socio-political repercussions in a society that has a very low rate of literacy.
Also, some of the articles are reactions to certain events reported in the press, and having far reaching consequences.
The Last section, Poems: The Other Half is a lament against some of the gruesome happenings in Pakistan, where women were subjected to humiliating accusations of moral lapses known as karo-kari (illicit relations with a man) and sentenced to death by 'jirga' (community elders' court).
From India to Pakistan in the late 1950s and then to England in the early '60s, and settling down in Walsall, West Midlands, UK, and some thirty years later, returning to Pakistan - that is how his life is divided in learning, experiencing and serving.
He has lived some thirty years of his life in the UK and USA, and about six years in the Middle East. A great deal of travel, and academic and professional studies, jobs inside and outside the UK took him to many countries. In Saudi Arabia, he worked with TWA, and with Saudia, the national airline of Saudi Arabia where he published the procedural manual for the Data Services.
While in the UK, he was the first Asian immigrant to be nominated as Councillor, in May 1971, by the Labour Party for Birchills Ward, County Borough of Walsall, England. he retuned to Pakistan in 1990. He has a Masters degree in Business Administration. He is a member of several professional bodies: Member of the Institute of Work Study & Organisation Methods, (I.W.S.O.M.) UK, Graduate Member of the Industrial Transport Assoication, (I.T.A) UK, and various professional courses from City & Guilds College, London.
In Karachi, he joined Economic Advisory Services as Associate Consultant, teaming up with late Dr. Ashfaq Kadri. Later, on the invitation of Dr. Kadri, he joined an English newspaper, The News, where he is working in a senior capacity.
Among his many interests, painting is the one that he takes very seriously. He has participated in group-shows and solo shows in various art galleries in Karachi.
