Lt. Col. (R) Mahmood Ahmed Ghazi T.Bt.
Lieutenant Colonel Mahmood was born in (Kenya) British East Africa in 1947. The Family moved to Pakistan in early fifties, when his father decided that there was no justification to live in a foreign land when they had now got a country of their own. He joined Pakistan Army in 1971, and was commisioned in an Air Defence Regiment. He saw action with his regiment in the 1971 Indo Pak war.
In 1984 he was posted to ISI (Inter Services Intelligence) and remained there for eight years. In ISI he was posted to Afghan Bureau from where he was selected as in charge of a small training team that was sent to USA to get trained on Stinger Missiles. On his return he was made in charge of the Stinger Section which was responsible to impart Stinger training to Afghan Mujahids (Freedom Fighters) and to plan the air battle in Afghanistan. He saw the effect of this weapon system and the devastation it caused on the Soviet/Afghan air power to an extent that it became untenable for the Soviets to stay in Afghanistan. His services in this regard were also recognized by the Government of Pakistan.
