This book addresses itself to understanding the background of the creation of Pakistan and such questions as how and why Pakistan has failed in integrating its society and still continues to face problems in that respect, and what areas and segments of Pakistani life pose the greatest problems in the gigantic tasks of securing the country, In achieving industrializating and economic development, but above all in establishing and maintaining the systems of Islamic society, state, polity, economy, and culture in Pakistan. The most difficult question pertain to the formulation of the theory of the interestless economy, role of woment, cultivation of science, democracy, creativity, and the social policy and strategy of growth and development. All these questions and their related aspects have been forthrightly explored in this book and the author has made a sincere attempt to state in unambiguous terms the issues which have to be resolved and what will have to be done to ensure progress in Pakistan in keeping with the essential spirit of Islam, on the one hand and the demands of the modern world, on the other.
Ausaf Ali was born in India in 1934 in a small village in what is now the state of Uttar Pradesh. After his schooling at home and in the local schools, he was educated at the Aligarh Muslim University in India. Karachi University in Pakistan, and the University of Southern California in the United States. He has taught and worked in industry and government both in Pakistan and America. His published work includes Studies to wards an Understanding of the Developmental Perspective and The Financial Management of the Enterprise Operating in the Interestless Economy, and many articles.
Ausaf Ali is a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. He is married to an American and lives in California. The Alis have a teenage son. In his life his three greatest passions have been the prusuit of learning in social sciences, economic support of his parental family including his brothers and sisters and their families, and the survival and success of Pakistan as a viable society in the present-day world.
Ausaf Ali is a founder member of the Advisory Board of the American National Council of Islamic Affairs headquartered in New York. He is also active in the Muslim community of Sothern California.
