Jawad and Ali have assembled a useful compilation of media laws particularly in an era of mass communication. In Pakistan there is a need to strengthen to tort law with special reference to the law of defamation in the arena of both print and electronic jounalism. During my practice and experience in Washington DC, I saw how the field of law interesected with journalism.
The 21 st Century promises to be a battle of ideas with journalist and lawyers set to play a significant role. Through this commendable effort, Jawad and Ali have taken a positive step which will benefit lawyers and laymen as Will as journalists and generalists in Pakistan.
Jawad Hassan is a Partner at Hassan and Hassan (Advocates), Lahore and specializes in litigation, Commercial, corporate, banking and labour work. He has to his name a number of reported judgments of the High Courts of Pakistan on commerical Law.
He holds an LL.M from Pace University, New York, Masters in Economics and an LL.B from Punjab University, Lahore, graduate diploma in accounting from the University of Westminister, London, graduate diploma in accounting from University of Westminister, London and various certificates from the Hague Academy of International Law, Hague and the National University of Singapore, Singapore.
He is member of various Commissions, Committees and Boards of the organizations, NGOs, institutions, bar associations and the chambers of commerce. Mr. Hassan has been involved with the Government of Pakistan and Government of Punjab in drafting certain laws, rules and regulations.
Mr. Hassan is a visiting lecturer at the Punjab University Law College and Kinnaird College and has been a Resource Person at the three (3) Capacity Building Workshops for the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan at LUMS: eleven (11) Training Workshops for the Civil judges of the NWFP, Sindh, Baluchistan and Punjab organized by the High Courts and at the various training courses for the Government Officers at NIPA, Civil Services Academy and the Government Engineer Academy and the Government Engineer Academy Punjab.
Mr. Hassan's various researched article / papers have been published in USA, UK, Netherlands, Australia and Pakistan which were presented in various international conferences.
Mr. Ali Hadi is at present an associate at Irfan & Irfan, (Attorneys-at-Law), Lahore. He is a former associate of Hassan & Hassan (Advocates), Lahore and specializes in areas of Commercial, Corporate, Labore, E Commerce and Intellectual Property laws. He is enrolled as an advocate of the Lahore High Court, Lahore.
Mr. Ali has been a student at Aitchiosn College, Government College, Lahore, the Punjab University and the University of Pennsylvania from where he holds a Legvm Magistri (Masters in Law) degree. He has the unique privilege of being the youngest member of the Sub-Committee on Electronic Banking of the Information Technology Low Forum (Ministry of Science and Technology). He also has a number of publications relating to e-commerce to his credit. Mr. Ali is at present a visiting lecturer at the Punjab University, Lahore, Kinnaird College for Women and has also taught at the Punjab Law College.
