Taking cognizance of the fall in the moral and ethical values, the author in this book has attempted to impress the youth, the need for learning the basic ethics, and has extolled the contribution moralists like Sa'di, Omar Khayyam, Spinoza, Has Tai-etc. He further discusses in detail the relevance of Vishnu Sharma's 'Panch Tsntre' and 'Hitopede: to make the youth realize the need to correct their selves and shape their personalities. Included in this book a chapter on Akhlaq-i-Mohsini morals of the Beneficent which has more relevance in the present state of affairs of the nation.
The main purpose of the work is to acquaint the young with the best that has been said by the wisest of the former generations, and fit them to bring this knowledge to bear on the practical Conduct of their lives. This, in his opinion, may (perhaps help to realize the responsibilities toward the society by exalting public good above their own, and to respect others as the most natural corollary of respecting themselves.
Professor Shah Mohammad Bijli (born 10 Nov. 1932 at Nagercoil. Cape Comrin Dist. of Tamil Nadu) is a senior academician. Educated at the then Travancore State and Aligarh Muslim University, he was Reader in the Faculty of Commerce at the Aligarh Muslim University. He was awarded a fellowship of the Netherlands Government for International Technical Assistance for a post graducate course in National Development at the Institute of Social Studies at The Hague. He served the United Nations Industrial Development Organization at Vienna (Austria) as the Chief Technical Adviser for more than a decade and travelled widely all over the globe.
Professor Bijli has been a student of distinguished Professors of eminence (viz.) The late Professor Jan Tinbergen, Nobel Laureate of the Rotterdom School of Economics, Professor Amritya Sen, Nobel Laureate of Economics, Professor Hans W. Singer of Sessex University, Professor Lady U. K. Hicks of Oxford etc. etc. He holds a doctorate in International Economic Integration, and has published a number of books on International Economics. He was Professor and Dean of the Faculty of Commerce and Management at Goa university. He has a number of papers published to his credit.
Of late he has switched over to the study of comparative religions, philosophy and metaphysics and has written ten books for the youth of the country.
